Possibilities are endless Demeter definetly one of the most powerful goddess but her children are only referred to as the plant kids instead of the cool earthplantseason kid they could be as well imagine death powers cycle of life and death (edited by Kaepsmrach) 0 Empath4806 7172020 Its weird that her name is actually short for Margaret (I mean it is popular) rather than Megara who is actually from Greek Mythology (Megara was Hercules first girlfriend).Youre entitled to your opinion, of course, but its important to understand why Meg sometimes acts the way she does.Trigger Warning: I am going to be talking about emotional abuse and trauma, as I explain parts of Megs character.First off I would like to address her selfish and impulsiveness.
Most of her life Meg lived in a place where whenever someone claimed to help her, lots of times they ended up hurting her. She could never trust when someone said they were on her side. This being said its understandable that when she sees something that she knows she needs or needs to do, she would automatically go after. ![]() The emotional and possibly physical abuse she sustained for years (especially as a kid), has a major impact on the way she acts. Nero manipulated this girl until she would do anything for him. A person constantly threatening you is bad enough, a person constantly threatening you that killed your father would be even more terrifying. To add onto that he told her she was able to prevent him from hurting her, if she did exactly what he said. All the time she lived with him, whenever she didnt do as she asked, people she cared about got hurt. It was probably very deeply engraved in her to follow her stepfathers wishes, in order to save those she cared about. Rick Riordan has not always done a good job of representing trauma, but with Meg he mustve really done his research. Its important to accurately portray humans, and create a space where we are knowledgeable. Starting with Meg. Last but not least, I would like to highlight how incredibly strong Meg is. She frequently redefines what it means to be feminine and continues to amaze me with her uncanny ability to make me laugh despite the serious setting of the books. Thank you for reading this, and let me know if you disagree or have anything to add in the comments Meg McCaffrey 12 12 VIEW OLDER REPLIES 2 SarahTheSarcastic 7152020 I agree with everything you said. DNellie245 7162020 I agree, but always reading the book I didnt like how Rick made her seem younger than she is. Maybe shes just an immature character. Iseethestarsmylady 7162020 Ya I understand that, thats possibly just developmental issues. When kids arent cared for correctly when they are younger it deeply effects how well the develop 0 Winxita 7172020 Shes too young to go through all that.I mean cmon TWELVE 0 SarahTheSarcastic 7172020 She is too young, but its sadly not too unrealistic. The zombie emperor part, yes, but not much more.) 0 Kaepsmrach 7172020 I dont get why Demeter children are potrayed weak. Demeter is the goddess of the Earth, seasons, food, sacred laws and the Cycle of Life and Death. Her kids should be on equal footing with the Big 3 they are her brothers as well as she is older. Seasons translate to Atmokinesis imagine being able to make it sunny, snowy, foggy, windy as well as alter the seasons, Geokinesis and by extension Ferrokinesis They come from the earth as well as Magmakinesis.
